2006 Great Irish Stew Cook-Off
2006 Great Irish Stew Cook-Off

In 2006 I was the First Prize Winner (Amateur Category) in the Hibernian Hunger Project's "Great Irish Stew Cook-Off" which is held annually in March at Finnegan's Wake to raise money for the Hunger Project. Since 1999 the Hibernian Hunger Project has prepared, packaged and delivered over 73,000 meals to organizations like Aid For Friends, The Saint Francis Inn, Saint John's Hospice and the Philadelphia Veterans Multi-Service & Education Center. We have also collected thousands of cans of food for area food banks and organizations that feed the needy and homeless. You can learn more about the Hibernian Hunger Project by visiting our website at:

Hello, my name is
PHIL BOWDREN

I live in Fishtown with my wife Marian. We have four sons, and four grandsons, with another ? on the way. I'm a retired Philly Cop (29 Years), who now keeps busy designing websites for friends.

I'm a member of AOH Division 51 - Fishtown, and the Recording Secretary of the Philadelphia County Board of the AOH. I'm a Board Member of the Philadelphia Veterans Multi-Service & Education Center and the Lacey Gallagher Memorial Scholarship Fund.

My wife and I are members of our Parish's (Holy Name of Jesus) Music Ministry (The Holy Name Guitar Group) and I serve as Cantor for Mass.
MORE ABOUT ME...

I joined this Wiki because: It's a chance to tell others about what the AOH is all about...

The best words to describe me are: Fun Loving & Crazy

My Interests: My Family, Music, Photography, History, Reading, Web Design

My Favorite Movies: The Quiet Man, Fort Apache, Eragon, Lord of the Rings series, Braveheart, Singing In The Rain, and any good "B" Monster Movie from the '50's (THEM, Deadly Mantis, etc.)

My Favorite TV Shows: N.C.I.S., Iron Chef America, CSI - Miami, Numbers (Anything that lets me THINK...)

My Hero: My Brother Jim, who died in the Vietnam War in 1970

My Superpower is: Cooking up some GREAT Irish Stew or Chili... I guess that's a Super Power.

If I could live anywhere, it would be: In a cottage like "White O'Morn" somewhere in County Cork.

My Dream Job: I always thought it would be great to be a tour guide around Philadelphia.

My Favorite Music / Singers / Groups: I like all types of music, if I like a song, so be it, it doesn't matter how it's classified. I'm partial to Country, Oldies, and of course Irish music. My favorite Oldies Groups are The Four Seasons, The Vogues and the Beach Boys (any group with a tight harmony), in Country music I like Toby Keith, Charlie Daniels, Garth Brooks, and Reba McIntyre. My favorite Irish Groups are The Clancy Brothers, The Irish Tenors (all of them), Celtic Woman, and almost all of Philly's great Irish bands.

I hope to put together a concise history of the AOH - LAOH in the DelVal area, so any help you can give me is appreciated. Please send me a brief history of your Division, when/where you meet, who your President is, etc. and I will get the ball rolling.

Thanks, Phil
